The American Dream
Growing up, my family struggled with poverty and unemployment, but through hard work we were able to rebuild our lives and achieve the American Dream. I understand on a deeply personal level the needs of this district. I will work to guarantee that every family has the opportunity to work for and achieve the American Dream, just like my family did.
The core of the American Dream is the opportunity to create a future for yourself and your family. That’s all that working families in this country want. They deserve an economy that rewards hard work and responsibility.
What this country needs to do is depend on each other, get to work and persevere through tough times. Families across America and in the 8th Congressional District are doing just that. And I want to be a Member of Congress who rolls up her sleeves and gets to work – just like those families. Life isn’t always fair, and it’s not government’s job to make life fair – but I believe that if you aren’t willing to give up on yourself when confronted with obstacles, then we shouldn’t give up on you either.
