Tammy Duckworth for Congress

Duckworth Heads into Primary with Strong Fundraising Totals

Democrat Tammy Duckworth has raised over $1.3 million to date for the March 20th primary election in Illinois’ 8th congressional district.

Duckworth raised $335,449 between January 1st and February 29th according to the pre-primary filing submitted to the FEC earlier today. In a sign of the widespread grassroots support for her campaign, over 90 percent of donors gave $100 or less. To date, 8,624 people have contributed to Duckworth’s campaign. Duckworth's cash on hand was $255,472.

“Tammy’s continued fundraising success is yet another demonstration of the wide support and growing momentum for her campaign ahead of the March 20th primary. It’s clear she has the resources, support, strength and experience to take on Tea Party favorite Joe Walsh in November,” said Kaitlin Fahey, Duckworth’s Deputy Campaign Manager.

Duckworth's prior fundraising totals have put her among the top House candidates in the country and she is expected to land there again with this filing. The strong fundraising numbers come shortly after Duckworth's endorsement by the Chicago Tribune and Daily Herald.

Courage and Common Sense

Tammy Duckworth and Senator Durbin

Tammy Duckworth has shown courage in her life and has shown common sense when it comes to dealing with the challenges that we face. She can not only help the veterans get on their feet, she can help unemployed workers as well. I am proud to endorse her.

She's the kind of person we need in Washington to make the practical decisions that will move this economy forward out of the recession, creating good paying jobs for the future. People in the 8th district will have a strong voice in Tammy Duckworth.

Senator Dick Durbin, (D-Illinois)
