Teachers Unions Endorse Duckworth

Today, the Illinois Federation of Teachers, led by Locals 604 and 1600, have endorsed Tammy Duckworth for Congress in the 8th District Democratic primary.

“The Illinois Federation of Teachers is proud to endorse Tammy Duckworth for Congress. We know Tammy will fight for our children, teachers and public schools in the 8th Congressional District and throughout Illinois," said President Dan Montgomery, "Our endorsements are determined by the votes of our members, and they back candidates like Tammy who understand the needs of middle class families and those who work in public schools and public service.”

"Obtaining the Illinois Federation of Teachers endorsement is a great honor to me. Our teachers, students, and educational institutions need the resources and support to make sure our children have a shot at the American Dream," said Duckworth. “The success of our educational system will help keep our nation strong and a global leader. I look forward to working with IFT members and leadership throughout the 8th District to make sure that happens.”

The IFT represents over 100,000 members across the state of Illinois, from more than 200 local unions. Members come from a wide range of professions and are dedicated to improving the lives of IFT members and providing quality education and public services for Illinois students and citizens.

The IFT endorsement demonstrates Duckworth’s continued support from local communities including the Associated Fire Fighters of Illinois, UFCW, SEIU Illinois Council, and Teamsters Joint Council 25.
