Teamsters Joint Council 25 Endorses Duckworth
Teamsters Joint Council 25, representing 20 Teamster locals in the greater Chicagoland area, announced this morning that they are endorsing Tammy Duckworth for Congress in the 8th District Democratic primary.
"The Teamsters are proud to endorse Tammy Duckworth to be the next Representative in Congress for Illinois' 8th District," said John Coli, President of Joint Council 25. "We've known Tammy for years and worked closely with her to help Veterans and their families as they transition back to civilian life. Tammy knows what it means to work for a living, and we're confident she'll represent all the working families of her district well."
Joint Council 25 represents more than 100,000 members in the region. This endorsement is the second major labor endorsement for Duckworth in as many days. On Monday, SEIU Illinois Council and its 170,000 members announced their support.
"I'm glad to have the support of my Teamster friends. So many Teamsters live in the 8th, and I’m looking forward to representing them in Congress," said Duckworth. "The working families of the 8th District deserve better than Representative Joe Walsh, and I want to make the case for the values we share."
Duckworth has announced a series of positive developments in her campaign over the last week, including the major labor endorsements and a 4th quarter fundraising haul of over $470,00, which is expected to be one of the best in the nation.
